UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan talks about the organization’s priorities in 2015

Stefan Priesner -Headsup2015As in previous years, the UN Office in Uzbekistan presents the primary areas of cooperation between the UN system and the Government of Uzbekistan for 2015. In a series of interviews prepared by the UN Information Office, the heads of UN agencies in Uzbekistan focus on their organizations’ immediate priorities.

In the first interview, UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan Stefan Priesner talks about the key areas of the UN system’s activities for 2015.

Mr. Priesner talks about four areas of cooperation (bulleted below) that were determined in conjunction with the Uzbek Government and Parliament and NGOs in Uzbekistan during the process of developing a UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for Uzbekistan for 2016-2020.

• Economic development (with a focus on jobs and social protection)
• Improvement of healthcare and education
• Environmental sustainability
• Effective governance and institutional development

The Resident Coordinator also drew attention to the tasks the UN will be working on in connection with the ‘Year of Care and Attention for the Senior Generation’ in Uzbekistan.
